About Dr. Lauren Geyman
I opened my Brooklyn-based naturopathic practice in 2019 and welcome people both local and remote for in-person or virtual consults. I frequently work with patients experiencing digestive dysfunction, hormone imbalance, and skin inflammation. Preventative care is a major tenant of naturopathy, so I also love working with people who may want to prepare for pregnancy, reduce metabolic risk factors, or support general health and wellness. Clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, and mind-body practices are central to my approach to patient care. Dogma exists in both conventional and alternative medicine, and my goal is to provide tools and support that feel accessible and non-restrictive, creating a bridge between two often overwhelming worlds.
I aim to educate my patients about their bodies and offer minimally invasive tools to address pathology and shift toward our natural state of homeostasis. Most importantly, my patients are given a space to be heard and a means to return to nature. I aim to do healing work that is trauma-informed, inclusive to all, and treads softly on the Earth. I hope to empower my patients to comfortably lean into the transformative experience of a body healing itself.
Experience
I graduated with a doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon - the nation’s oldest accredited naturopathic medical school. My undergraduate studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey were largely focused on human biology, sustainable development, and ethnobotany.
Following medical school, I completed my residency at Remede Naturopathics, New York State’s first and only board-certified naturopathic residency program. I hold active memberships with the Gastroenterology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
I have also completed a fellowship at holistic health center Succurro in upstate New York, where I explored the various aspects of energetic medicine as well as the relationship between healing and creativity. In addition to patient care, I love to write and teach about about health. My writing and interviews have been featured in Clean Plates and Nutrafol, where I also serve on the naturopathic medical team.
